A NEW Dementia Care Meeting Centre in Malvern has been officially opened by West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin, writes Ben Workman.

Funding was secured by Rev Phillip Johnson to renovate the meeting room at St Mathias Church.

This new meeting centre has been supported and championed by Worcester University, Worcestershire County Council and Malvern Hills District Council.

The meeting centre provides a safe venue for those who dealing with dementia or similar conditions. Local volunteers will help run the new centre which will provide a lifeline to those living with the condition and their carers.

Ms Baldwin said she was delighted to open the centre and fully understood how crucial the centre would be.

“Malvern is blessed with having many people who live much longer lives than a generation ago, but that also comes with the extra challenges of many more people who live with dementia.

“I was delighted to be able to formally open this centre and hope that there will be many more of these across West Worcestershire in the coming months and years.”

The centre is now open to help those living with dementia.
