A NEW group supporting people affected by sight loss is to launch in Malvern next week.
Sight Concern Worcestershire is launching a brand new fortnightly service which will get underway via a special event on Monday at The United Reformed Church Hall on Worcester Road between 2pm and 4.30pm.
The group will offer regular advice and social activities.
Jenny Douglas, dedicated sight loss specialist for the charity, said: “It’ll be a great opportunity to find out more about the services that are available to support people with sight loss and chat to others in a similar situation.”
Jenny, who has a background in social work, added, “I love this work. I’ve only been working for Sight Concern since November but I have met so many inspiring people and feel like I’m really making a difference to people’s lives. If you’re struggling with sight loss or know someone who is, please come and join us”.
Katy Wakefield, advice and support manager for the charity, said: “Sight Concern has successfully been supporting people with sight loss for over 130 years. The charity’s vision is a world where blind and partially sighted people have the confidence to reach their full potential and the opportunity to play an active role in society.”
She added, “This new group complements our popular, existing Malvern Branch that meets on alternative weeks of the month at Christchurch Hall.”
Places are limited but can be booked by calling 01905 723245 or email [email protected].
Sessions cost £4 each with free refreshments provided. Concessions may be available subject to certain criteria.
