FLOODING LATEST: Two people rescued from floods in Ledbury, flood gate in Upton closed

THE New Street flood gate in Upton-upon-Severn has closed, police and environmental officers have confirmed.

Heavy rain has caused flooding in several parts of the Malvern Hills district over the past two days with a number of roads closing because of the amount of water on the roads.

Last night fire crews in Ledbury and Malvern had to rescue two people from a vehicle after they were trapped in flood water on Rhea Lane, Ledbury.

Malvern Hills District Council has advised residents affected by any flooding that sandbags are available from the Council Depot in Pendragon Close, Malvern WR14 1GR, and may also be available at East Waterside, Upton.
