MILK lovers will find it easier to get fresh milk after a forward-thinking farm introduced ‘The Really Good Dairy’ vending machines at its premises.
Hollybeds Farm in Earls Croome is run by the Goodwin family who have been in dairy farming for more than 70 years,
The vending machine – available every day from 7.30am to 7pm – officially opened to the public on on February 6 and proved an instant hit, selling 200 litres of the white stuff within the first three weeks.
The herd is made up of 260 Holstein Friesian cows which are milked twice a day, 90 per cent of the cows’ feed is produced on the farm reducing the need for brought in feeds, and providing them with all the vitamins and minerals they need to produce their milk.
The milk shed contains two vending machines.
The first one enables people to purchase a reusable glass bottle, which can then place in the second machine to fill up with milk.
Hollybeds’ farmer Tom Goodwin said: “The response from the community has been overwhelming – people are really supportive of local businesses around here and we really appreciate it.
“Our milk is gently pasteurised on site so it has zero air miles and is about as fresh as you can get.”
