Newland hop firm celebrates successful year

A MALVERN business is aiming to put homegrown crops in beers all over the world as it celebrates a great year for hop growers.

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin took a tour of the Charles Faram and Co production facility in Newland ahead of the harvest.

She also chatted to managing director Paul Corbett about the company’s expansion plans.

The business ships hops across the globe and local hops are used to make some of the best beers in the world.

Mrs Baldwin said: “Paul has some really exciting expansion plans and I am delighted to help in whatever way I can.

“As well as selling to UK brewers, Paul exports to dozens of countries and he clearly has a strong drive to reach new markets and new buyers, wherever they are in the world.

“This year has been very good to hop farmers and I am grateful that Paul took the time to give me a tour of his Malvern site before the harvest rush starts.”

Mr Corbett added: “We were delighted to give Harriett a tour of the site along with our new hop store and to show her our locally developed new hop varieties.

“Exports will be a key part of our business going forward and Harriett has already given us lots of ideas and help on how we can progress this.

“We are looking forward to working with the government’s export team to help in this process.”
