Newsletter aimed at getting Malvern's youth involved in issues affecting them

Malvern Editorial 24th Jul, 2017   0

A NEW newsletter has been produced to help young people in Malvern have their say on issues affecting them.

The Inbox is the brainchild of Malvern Hills District Council and will be published on the authority’s website twice a year in July and January.

Secondary schools, independent school and youth organisations across the district will also receive the newsletter which aims to keep young people informed about the council’s work which is relevant to them.

The newsletter also aims to gain feedback from young people on a variety of issues and highlight the importance of local democracy.

Coun Caroline Palethorpe, who has been involved in the project, said: “Our young people have lots of great ideas and important views which we can use to help inform our decision-making but they are often the group we hear the least from.

“It’s vital we continue to find different ways of engaging with young people across the district and give them opportunities to be heard and valued.

“This newsletter is another stepping stone in that direction.”

The latest issue includes opportunities to comment on what life is like as a young person living in the district, join the council’s new Youth Forum, apprenticeships, events and the chance to win one of 50 free seven day activity passes for Freedom Leisure’s sites in Malvern, Martley and Tenbury.

The first edition is available to download at www.malvernhills.gov.uk/have-your-say.
