Not long left to nominate Malvern's unsung heroes

Malvern Editorial 17th Oct, 2017   0

TIME is running out to nominate unsung heroes for this year’s Our Malvern Hills Community Awards.

The awards, hosted by Malvern Hills District Council, is now in its second year and will take place on Wednesday, November 29 at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium, the home of Malvern Town Football Club.

Individuals, projects, groups and organisations whose dedication and commitment has improved the lives and wellbeing of residents will be recognised at the ceremony.

Nominations are being sought in six award categories – Safe and Sound, Improving Lives, Action in the Community, Cleaner and Greener, Young Person’s and Business in the Community.

The deadline for nominations is Sunday, October 29.

Coun David Watkins, portfolio holder for healthier communities on Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We all know someone, a group or organisation, doing wonderful things in our district so please take the time and nominate them so we can give them the recognition they deserve.

“So often we take what these people do for granted and this will be a chance to say a small thank you for everything they do and hopefully inspire others to follow in their footsteps.”

The creation of the awards was part of the district council’s five-year plan and commitment to building stronger and healthier communities.

Musician and songwriter, Jack Brett, who plays a variety of styles including blues, folk and soul will be performing on the night.

Visit www.malvernhills.gov.uk/communityawards for more information and to nominate.

Paper copies of nomination forms are also available from the Tourist Information Centre in Church Street and Malvern Library.

They can also be requested by calling Isobel Rich on 01684 862467.
