Opportunity to seek funds as Malvern Soup returns next month

Malvern Editorial 18th Oct, 2018   0

CHARITIES, groups or people looking for funds to get new projects off the ground are being offered the chance to pitch for money at the sixth Malvern Soup in November.

The event will take place at Malvern Vale Community Centre on Sunday, November 18 from 3pm to 5pm.

Malvern Soup is a Dragon’s Den-style community event, with people explaining their project and asking for support.

The event is open to people of all ages, with adults asked for a suggested contribution of £4 while children can come for free.

Everyone (including children) gets to vote, with the winning project receiving the money made at the event.

As well as voting, people who come along also enjoy a cup of home-made soup and a piece of cake as well as activities, a raffle and music.

Money made at previous events has gone towards projects such as NCT baby bundles, a Heartstart defibrillator and an art group for people with learning disabilities.

Chris Reed, one of the volunteers who organises Malvern Soup, said pitching is about more than the potential fund-raising.

“People who have pitched at previous events have told us they’ve found it a great opportunity to get the message out about their groups and to make connections with others,” he added.

“The chance to walk away with additional funds is a bonus.”
