Out and about in Malvern

Malvern Editorial 23rd Oct, 2013 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

PLENTY will be happening in and around Malvern in the coming days.

Here are a selection of events featured in this week’s edition of the Observer:

A CONVERSATION spanning more than a century will be brought to life on stage tonight (Wednesday).

Landscape II by Melanie Wilson is put together by strands of monologue and thoughts based around diary entries and writings of three fictional women from 1899 and 2013.

Using images and film footage shot in North Devon, the story exposes a series of threatening episodes and unsettling occurrences.

The performance costing £12 (under 26s £8) will begin at 7.45pm at The Forum Theatre. For more information, visit www.malvern-theatres.co.uk or call 01684 892277.

UPTON residents will be able to raise issues of concern with their MP at a surgery this week.

Harriett Baldwin is set to meet constituents at Memorial Hall on Friday (October 25) from 5pm.

STAFF at a recently-opened café in Malvern Link have urged families to join in their Halloween celebrations.

The party will take place at 3Sixty Coffee House in Victoria Park on Saturday (October 26) from 1pm to 4.30pm.

Costumes are optional and face, nail and hair painting will be available for £3 to provide the finishing touch to any frightening fancy-dress outfits. There will also be a prize for best costume on the day.

LEGENDARY rebel poet Attila the Stockbroker will be taking to the stage as part of the fifth Malvern Poetry Slam.

Taking place at Malvern Cube, Brenda Read Brown will be defending her title as ten poets go head to head over two rounds while Attila will be performing during the second half.

Dee Davidson from Versatile Arts, which will be presenting the evening on Friday, November 1, said: “This will be an excellent evening’s entertainment, the Slam is always exciting and with a set from Attila in the second half we expect a full house. The audience will get more than its money’s worth.”

Tickets costing £7 are available on the door from 7.30pm. For more information, call 07854 798913.

CLASSES focusing on the importance of mindfulness will be running throughout autumn at The Wheel Of Life Centre in Malvern.

Run by Buddhist priest Kaspa Thompson, the seven-week course will start on November 5 with morning, lunchtime or evening classes available.
