'Outstanding' news for Charlie's House

Malvern Editorial 15th Jan, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

A MALVERN mum who launched a childcare service out of her own home has now seen the business declared as Outstanding by Ofsted.

Charlie’s House on Knapp Way received the top grading in all three categories with inspectors commending how well children’s needs were met, their well-being was catered for and the effective management.

Charlie Lunn launched the business in 2008 after her son, who is now seven, was born. The former nanny said Charlie’s House was bigger than a normal child minder but smaller than a day nursery and therefore had the benefits of both.

“I have had experience of a variety of childcare settings and a small environment is where children learn and develop best,” she said.

“We are a small setting so we have a very close bond with the children and their families and get to know them very well.

“We have that homely feel but also maintain the professionalism of a nursery.”

She added: “We are really pleased to get an Outstanding because we all work really hard.

Charlie’s House has a dedicated play room for babies and toddlers and recently introduced a room for pre-schoolers to promote learning throughout playing.

However another key feature is regular outdoor activities which Charlie stressed was ‘really good’ for the youngsters.
