Pathway between Malvern Splash and Council House closed as Priory Park works get under way

Malvern Editorial 19th Oct, 2021   0

THE MAIN path between Malvern Splash and the Council House is now closed for two weeks as part of preparation work for the pond desilting in Great Malvern’s Priory Park.

When work is completed, the flow of the waterfall will help improve the water quality.

The banks will also be repaired and reprofiled to benefit wildlife and vegetation replanted.

The major draining works of the upper pond in the park started on September 20 to prepare it for essential repairs and maintenance.

The draining is part of a series of improvements being made to Malvern’s Priory Park to provide an even better experience for visitors.

The work was given the go-ahead following an ecological survey and is being supervised by ecologists.

Coun Peter Whatley, Malvern Hills District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Resources, said: “It is great to see the progress that has already been made to the ponds in Priory Park.

“The essential works carried out are all part of our commitment to improving and making the most of our environment.”

The main path from Malvern Splash to the Council House is now closed for two weeks during the works.
