THE THREE Counties Showground welcomed 5,000 visitors to this year’s sell-out CountryTastic event.

Despite the grey skies, the landmark family affair of the Easter holidays was a fantastic day of farmyard fun with special guest Adam Henson from BBC Two’s Countryfile.

A theme of fruit ran throughout this year’s show which was held last Thursday (April 13).

Visitors gathered to see Adam Henson in the Ask the Farmer classroom where they listened intently to his ‘Tales from the Bales’ and were told about all aspects of fruit production including pruning, pollination, harvesting and learning all about the role insects play.

Easy Peasy Cookery provided a hands-on session for children where they were given the opportunity to create fun fruity treats, whilst GoFaster educated them about how eating the right things will help support an active lifestyle.

The much-loved Wag and Bone Ring held displays of Shetland pony cart rides and saw children pick up some tips on training dogs from the Midwestern Gundog Group.

The ever-popular tractor and trailer rides returned along with a display of vintage agricultural machinery and even more pedal tractors for children to have a go themselves.

A livestock ring and donkey rides were also available for children to enjoy.

Head of shows Diana Walton said: “This year’s show was a phenomenal success.

“We were delighted to have sold out and would like to thank the overwhelming number of visitors who joined us to make it yet another brilliant show.

“The showground was filled with flocks of farmyard animals, fun and laughter as children got stuck into engaging activities throughout the day.

“We were thrilled to have Show Ambassador Adam Henson headlining the show again and would like to thank him for welcoming our great many families.

“Each year CountryTastic seeks to inspire and engage the next generation of budding farmers and we hope to see many of our visitors back again, hopefully for Family Weekend of RHS Malvern Spring Festival.”

Preparations are firmly underway for RHS Malvern Spring Festival which runs from May 11-14.

Tickets are on sale now and children under sixteen go free to all days of the festival.
