WHAT is billed as the UK’s biggest and best free Blue festivals drew an estimated 10,000 music lovers to Upton-on-Severn last week.
The award-winning event which ran from July 15 to 19 showcased a broad range of eclectic Blues sounds with more than 50 performances on the three main stages.
In addition, the 11 town centre pubs hosted more than a 100 additional performances which ensured there was live music strumming on every street corner.
A classic American car display at the Meadow Stage provided plenty of interest for motoring enthusiasts and the auto drive-by through the main streets on Sunday proved popular with spectators.
It was all eyes to the sunny skies, however, with a Hurricane flypast on Saturday and Sunday.
Whilst headliners including Brave Rivel, Aynsley Lister, King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys and Kyla Brox drew plaudits from audiences, a range of traders and food vendors made sure there was plenty to eat and stalls to browse.
Committee chair Grahame Bunn who is the landlord of the Ye Olde Anchor Inn told the Observer the festival was “amazing” and in the top three of best events that had been organised. “We are over-the-moon with how it went, really, really pleased.”
He said that all the pubs taking part and choosing their own acts has become the fringe part of the festival. “It really adds to the mix of music and without them it really wouldn’t be the same,” he added.
