POLICE in Malvern are attempting to crack down on early morning shoplifters with the use of plain clothes officers.
After receiving several reports of thefts early in the morning, officers have been patrolling frequently targeted shops and looking out for known prolific shoplifters.
Plain clothes officers have been engaging with store staff in some of the shops and have been patrolling on foot in and around the stores and unmarked police vehicles today (March 27).
Malvern officers are also publicising their activities on social media in a bid to deter potential shoplifters.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “We will continue to periodically carry out these plain clothes patrols and continue to work with retailers to identify the times, and locations of thefts to better utilise our resources for plain clothed and uniformed patrols.”
