PLANS to build a new 113-home estate including the creation of new sports pitches in Kempsey have been submitted to council chiefs.
Developer Taylor Wimpey wants to build the new estate on land at Pixham Ferry Lane next to Old Road south and has sent a full application to Malvern Hills District Council..
The plans include building 113 homes which will be a mix between market sale and affordable homes with car parking, new estate roads, public open space and new community sports pitches comprising playing fields and a community hall/club house on land to the west of Old Road South.
The application site is not identified in the adopted South Worcestershire Development Plan and is currently recognised as ‘open countryside’.
The site will also include six bungalows which will be suitable for elderly people.
In a planning statement, written on behalf of Taylor Wimpey, it says the site ‘is not currently allocated for development, neither is it the subject of any landscape, Green Belt or nature conservation policy designations.’
The statement also adds that the drafted Kempsey Neighbourhood Plan has chosen Pixham Ferry Lane to feature new community facilities such as a new club house and community pitches.
The playing fields and comunity hall elements of the development will be a community project led by Kempsey Parish Council.
It says access to the proposed estate will be through estate roads which are currently under construction as part of another new housing development to the north of the application site.
A target date for Malvern Hills District Council to make a final decision has been scheduled for January 17, 2017.
