TWO people have died following a collision between a car and motorbike on the A44 near Cotheridge.

The incident happened at about 1.40pm yesterday (Sunday) on Bromyard Road when a blue Citroen C4 travelling towards Worcester crashed into a black Suzuki motorbike travelling in the opposite direction.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a rapid response paramedic, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered two patients from the motorbike, a man and a woman, both of whom were in cardiac arrest.

“Ambulance staff performed CPR and administered advanced life support on both patients.

“Unfortunately, it became apparent at the scene that nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed deceased.

“Advanced trauma care continued on the woman as she was transported to Worcestershire Royal Hospital by land ambulance, where sadly, she was also confirmed deceased.”

Formal identification is due to take place and next have kin have been notified.

The driver of the Citroen, a man in his 60s, and a woman passenger escaped the collision without injury.

West Mercia Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or anybody who saw the manner in which either vehicle was being driven prior to the crash.
