Police issue warning about cold callers operating in Malvern

Malvern Editorial 9th Jun, 2023 Updated: 9th Jun, 2023   0

PEOPLE across Malvern Hills district have been warned to be on their guard after a cold caller operating in the area trying to sell goods.

The man claimed to be working on behalf of reformed youths out of prison.

The warning has been put out by officers from Kempsey and Alfrick Police Safer Neighbourhood Team which searched for the man but could not find any trace of him.

They have now issued a reminder to the public to remain vigilant as ‘although it may seem innocent, it may not be’.

“These people may often offer household cleaning products for sale from rucksacks or suitcases.

“Please be vigilant, do not purchase anything and never hand over cash on your doorstep.

“If you feel threatened, close the door and contact police.

“The items offered are often of low quality and advertised at inflated prices.”

Officers added door-to-door sales techniques were often used by potential burglars to gauge an address or carry out a distraction burglary.

“Always ensure your property is fully secure.”

Anyone with information about this latest cold caller should click here or call police on 101.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Householders who feel threatened should always call 999.
