Police issue warning to Malvern residents over 'Nottingham Knockers' rogue traders operating in the area

Malvern Editorial 11th Jun, 2021 Updated: 11th Jun, 2021   0

A WARNING has been issued to Malvern residents after reports of ‘Nottingham Knockers’ trading door-to-door.

The unlicensed pedlars usually cold call and try to sell items to householders – very often the goods are of low quality.

Malvern Police have urged people not to be intimidated into buying anything as they risk being scammed by these rogue traders.

People who sell door-to-door need to have a licence.

Also, if people buy goods from untrustworthy vendors, they are often unable to exchange them or get a refund if they are found to be faulty.

Police have issued the following advice –

  • You don’t have to open the door
  • Traders selling door to door MUST have a pedlar’s certificate
  • Don’t be intimidated into buying anything – you have a right to say ‘no’.

Suspicious activity should be reported by calling 101 or 999 if it is an emergency.
