POLICE are to step-up their patrols around Upton-upon-Severn’s skate park amidst reports of vandalism and other ‘unacceptable behaviour’.
Upton’s Safer Neighbourhood Team have received complaints from residents of drunken antics and broken glass being left on the park just off New Street.
Officers say they are now going to be making regular visits to the park to ensure it is being used for its exact purpose.
An Upton SNT spokesperson said: “If officers attend and find someone committing criminal damage or anti-social behaviour then they will dealt with either though the criminal or anti-social behaviour route.”
Planned for several years, the skate park was finally completed in May 2010 in memory of Kyle Salmon, a keen skateboarder and resident who died of leukaemia aged 13.
It was paid for by grant funding raised by Kyle’s family and friends.
