Popular Letterboxing Challenge will return to Malvern next year

A POPULAR treasure hunt run by Malvern Hills District Council has been hailed a success and will return next year.

The Letterboxing Challenge, which launched in May, was an orienteering challenge across the Malvern Hills where participants used a notebook with clues and a free map to find rubber stamps hidden in letterboxes.

Once all stamps had been found, explorers collected their well-earned ’25 Club Badge’ from the Malvern Tourist Information Centre.

The Chance family were the first to complete the challenge after finding all letterboxes.

Not only did the children receive their badge but they also received a special gift donated by Malvern Hills Trust.

Malvern Hills District Council has now collected the letterboxes for maintenance for winter and the challenge will be relaunched in May 2019.

The challenge was created by Malvern Hills District Council in partnership with the Malvern Hills Trust and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Rachel Vann, health and well-being Officer at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “The Letterboxing Challenge was launched earlier in the year as a way of encouraging families to get out and about, be active and explore the Malvern Hills, all whilst having fun.

“More than 170 families have taken part which is amazing and we hope many more will take part next year.”
