AN AWARD-WINNING choir is opening its doors to new members this autumn.
During the summer, Powick Community Choir entered the Upton Community Choir Competition and came away with the prestigious Judge’s Award for best performance of the day.
Now the large four part mixed choir is inviting new members to join and would be interested to hear from men and women who have some previous experience of singing.
Musical director Tom Well said: “The choir continues to develop and has come a very long way in such a short time.
“Besides the opportunity of belonging to one of the largest and most progressive choirs in the county, the large choir offers the opportunity for socialising and making new friends.”
Mr Wells is now keen to hear from local singers in the Worcester and Malvern areas.
There are no formal auditions and people are urged go for some taster sessions.
The repertoire is wide and varied, ranging from classic religious works to more contemporary pieces.
Fees are set at just £30 for the Autumn Term.
This includes the provision of a folder containing the compositions to be performed in concerts, culminating in the spectacular Great Hall in Stanbrook Abbey at Christmas.
