WORCESTER Scouts will be taking part in a camp, alongside 800 young people from across Worcester this spring.

The 7th Worcester Scouts, based in Powick, opened in October for children ages 10-14 and have taking part on activities and adventures including cooking on an open fire, climbing and pioneering.

Chief Scout Bear Grylls said: “Young people need a friendly, safe, and supportive place to discover their talents”

“Now more than ever, our young people need the confidence and encouragement that Scouting gives. That’s where we come in.”

In a recent poll 94 per cent of Scouts said they have developed useful skills.

Lead volunteer Ryan said: “Scouts is one of the highlights of my week.

“The young people learn skills that are essential to their personal development, building confidence, self-reliance, teamwork and supporting their community.

“Scouting is also fun for adult volunteers as well. It gives you skills for the future, and helps you connect with your community and make new friends.’”

The group meet on Thursday at 6.30pm for an hour and a half at The Powick Village Hall.
