Presenting a dark fairytale

AN INTIMATE show with a dark fairytale at its heart is set to amaze an audience in Malvern.

The Red Chair, by the Clod Ensemble, will ‘break the traditional boundaries of theatre’ when it comes to Malvern Cube, Albert Road North, on June 19.

The piece, which is a contemporary take on folk and fairytale storytelling traditions, tells the story of a father who eats and eats until he turns into the chair he is sitting on, as well as his wife, who is doomed to cook his meals, and their invisible daughter.

Director Suzy Willson said: “It is both mythic and contemporary, funny and heartfelt.

“It speaks of family and of ancestry, all the while conjuring up the wild beauty of the Scottish landscape.”

It starts at 8pm, tickets cost £12 or £9 for concessions and are available at www.malverncube.com or by calling 01684 575363.
