A PROLIFIC shoplifter and their accomplice were arrested by Malvern Police Safer Neighbourhood Team yesterday (Saturday, January 4).
Officers said they had been trying to track the person down for a while as their thefts amounted to thousands of pounds.
A Malvern SNT spokesperson said: “We were only able to make this arrest with the help of a couple of the shop managers, one on the retail park and one in Malvern Link.
“They took our advice of ringing 999 when they see known shoplifters.
“Officers were not far away from the area when the first call was made, this allowed us to attend the location quite quickly and start an area search.
“When the second call was made officers were minutes away.”
He urged people to remember to call 999 if a crime is in progress or if a known prolific shoplifter enters a store.
“The chances are they will be wanted by ourselves. Saturday’s arrest shows that these actions do work.”
Police regularly patrol the retail park and Malvern Link and have asked anyone who sees officers to stop them if they have information to pass on.
