THE RURAL community from across South Worcestershire are invited to a free event to learn more about protecting their property and improving their health, well-being and safety.
The ‘Protect Your Farm, Protect Yourself’ event will be held from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, November 22 at the Three Counties Showground.
Organised by Malvern Hills District Council and Wychavon District Council, the event will provide advice to the rural community from across South Worcestershire and surrounding areas on how they can protect their property, look after their well-being and gain financial advice.
This is an opportunity for partners and organisations to raise awareness of key issues including rural crime, fatal and serious injuries as well as public health.
A number of organisations will be attending, including Rural and Business Crime Liaison Officers, Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Council’s community and environmental protection officers, Victim Support, Neighbourhood Watch and more.
They will be able to showcase their services on designated market stalls and a live question and answer session will take place with a specially selected panel.
Financial advice and free property marking for farming equipment will also be on offer.
According to NFU Mutual’s annual Rural Crime Report, it was revealed rural crime cost Worcestershire more than £1m in 2017.
The UK saw an overall 13.4 per cent rise in the cost of rural crime last year with quad bikes and all-terrain vehicles, machinery and tools as the most commonly stolen items.
Coun Barbara Williams, rural champion for Malvern Hills District Council, said: “The ‘Protect Your Farm, Protect Yourself’ event offers the local farming community financial and health advice, as well as valuable support which can help provide much-needed peace of mind that their property is safe.”
