Rallying call for residents against 110 homes in Malvern Link

Malvern Editorial 10th Jul, 2014 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

RESIDENTS have been urged to rally against forthcoming proposals to build upto 110 homes on a field in Malvern Link.

Following a public exhibition unveiling the scheme recently, Ron Harris of Summerfield Road, has organised a petition against the plans and is calling on residents to show support by displaying posters in their windows.

He has highlighted more than half a dozen issues with the proposals which target the land opposite the New Inn on Lower Howsell Road, with existing problems with flooding in the area at top of the list.

Mr Harris also said there was heavy traffic in the neighbourhood with motorists using Summerfield Road as a ‘rat run’ to avoid the junction on Lower Howsell Road and Worcester Road.

He said residents were concerned about the potential loss of views and privacy because of the new homes arguing many people would see their house prices devalued.

Mr Harris also added the site’s proposed entrance was dangerous as it opened onto a blind bend with limited visibility and a pathway on only one side of the road.

“I am doing this petition because we have a lot of concerns,” he said.

“There has been enough building and concrete in the ground in Malvern. This is supposed to be a rural area.

“A lot of people I have spoken to are against this but many residents will not have been aware of the meeting and we want as many people as possible to get on board with the petition.”

Mr Harris said anyone wishing to join in opposition to the plans or help distribute posters and the petition can contact him at [email protected] or on 07786 990094.

Harris Lamb have welcomed feedback on the proposals on behalf of the developers Madresfield Estates.
