Residents warned time running out to register to vote in General Election

Malvern Editorial 9th May, 2017   0

MALVERN residents are being warned time is running out to ensure they are registered to vote in the upcoming General Election.

The deadline for registration is on Monday, May 22 and anybody who has not applied by that date will lose their say in who becomes the next MP for West Worcestershire when the nation goes to the polls on Thursday, June 8.

Matthew Box, electoral services manager for Malvern Hills District Council, said: “Anyone not yet registered to vote should do so as soon as possible in order for them to be able to have their say on issues that affect their lives by voting on June 8.

“With the introduction of online registration it is now easier than ever to make sure you are registered.”

Registering to vote can be done by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by calling the electoral services team at the district council on 01684 862200 or by emailing [email protected].

Anybody wanting to post by vote is reminded the deadline for applications is 5pm on Tuesday, May 23.

Those planning to send someone else to vote on their behalf – known as voting by proxy – have until 5pm on May 31 to submit completed paperwork.
