Road closures as work goes on

Malvern Editorial 11th Mar, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

OVERNIGHT road closures are set to take place in Tenbury as the enhancement works in the town near completion.

Worcestershire County Council has said the revamp is expected to be finished in time for Easter with the latest work set to include drainage, footway and full carriageway re-surfacing.

As a result of these final touches, Market Street will be closed between 6pm to 6am from tonight (Wednesday) until March 30. This will also include a weekend of work to ensure it is finished on time.

Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained and properties, along with vehicle access to the town. That will initially be via the Crown Corner end and then followed by the Market Square section as work progresses.

Road closures will affect all vehicles, regardless of weight, between 6pm and 6am however the 7.5tonne restriction will continue as usual with delivery windows between 7.30am to 9am and 3.30pm to 5pm.

Coun Dr Ken Pollock, Worcestershire County Councillor for Tenbury, said: “We are now reaching the final stages of the project, which will make our town more attractive to shoppers and visitors.

“Throughout this period, we have endeavoured to keep disruption to a minimum and appreciate the ongoing patience and support.

“Our town is still very much open and able to trade normally and I would like to thank everyone who is backing our traders during this time and would encourage people to continue doing just that as we go into these final stages.”
