PROUD Malvern Town chiefs were on hand to see Ron Frankum receive a long service to football award from the Football Association ahead of the recent game against Corsham Town.
Ron had been the Hillsiders groundsman for 52 years before retiring at the end of last season and was nominated for the esteemed accolade by the Worcestershire FA.
“We at The FA would like to record our appreciation of Ron’s wonderful efforts on behalf of football,” said FA chief executive Mark Bullingham.
“We offer our congratulations to Ron on his achievements.”
Club chair Chris Pinder said: “People like Ron are worth their weight in gold. He has the club very much at heart and is still a regular and popular figure at our home games.
“This award is so richly deserved for such long service to the football club. They certainly don’t make them like ‘Rocket Ron’ anymore!”
During the summer Ron was made a life member of the club in view of his outstanding service to Malvern Town FC.
