Rural projects in Malvern urged to apply for £50,000 grant from Prince’s Countryside Fund

Malvern Editorial 10th Apr, 2017   0

RURAL projects across Malvern can apply for grants of up to £50,000 through the Prince’s Countryside Fund.

Inspirational rural projects are being sought for the scheme which has more than £600,000 on offer.

It was set up by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2010 to help rural organisations and communities and has so far assisted more than 200 projects across the UK, giving away over £8million.

The grant programme tackles a wide range of rural issues including support and business advice for traditional farming families, career support and training opportunities for young people and support for communities to run vital community services.

Applications are being particularly welcomed from community shops, pubs and innovative projects intended to alleviate rural isolation.

Among them are projects which provide training opportunities and apprenticeship schemes for those seeking a career in agriculture, those providing support and advice to community shops to keep rural communities thriving, those helping rural enterprises and farm businesses to become more economically viable and those supporting farmers experiencing financial hardship and severe stress.

The deadline for applications is 5pm next Friday (April 13).
