THE NEXT meeting of the Malvern branch of the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust will feature a talk by Andy Harris on ‘Sandy Badlands – local heathland environments’.
The presentation will be given at the Lyttelton Rooms, Church Street, Malvern, at 7.30pm on February 2.
Northern Reserve Officer Andy will explore the history and culture of heathlands. There will be a particular focus on The Devil’s Spittleful and Rifle Range and the Dropping Well Farm restoration.
Admission is £2.50 and everyone is welcome are welcome.
This month’s meeting featured a talk on ‘The Best of Britain’ by Tom Mabbett’s, a wildlife tour leader.
Mr Mabbett shared some of the wildlife he had photographed in his favourite areas around the UK, from Ardnamurchan to the Forest of Dean.
The meeting began with one of the remoter areas on the Scottish mainland, Ardenamurchan penisula, with a look at a variety of wildlife such as eagles, otters, minke whales and basking sharks.
A look at the Forest of Dean showcased many bird species, including brambling and hawfinches.
Mr Mabbett continued discussing the wildlife and history surrounding the rivers Axe, Brue and Parrett in the Somerset Levels. He will finish by speaking about one of the country’s most thrilling migration spots – Spurn Point on the East Yorkshire.
