Search is on once again for Malvern's unsung heroes

Malvern Editorial 12th Sep, 2017   0

UNSUNG heroes are once again being sought as the Our Malvern Hills Community Awards make a much-anticipated return.

The awards were launched for the first time last year by Malvern Hills District Council and were a huge success, with 60 nominations and 20 groups and individuals recognised during a celebration event.

Organisers are now appealing to the public to help make this year’s awards bigger and better by nominating even more people, organisations or projects which have improved the lives and well-being of residents.

There are six categories people can nominate in: Safe and Sound, Improving Lives, Action in the Community, Cleaner and Greener, Young Person’s and Business in the Community.

Those chosen to receive an award will be presented with it during a celebration ceremony at the HDAnywhere Stadium, the home of Malvern Town Football Club, on Wednesday, November 29.

The awards form part of the district council’s Five Year Plan commitment to building stronger and healthier communities.

Coun David Watkins, portfolio holder for healthier communities on the district council, said: “Last year was a magnificent celebration of the many ways our residents get involved in their communities and make a difference to people’s lives.

“If you know an individual, organisation or project making a difference where you live, then please nominate and help us shine a light on even more of those wonderful people and ensure they get the recognition they deserve.”

Paper copies are available from the Tourist Information Centre on Church Street and Malvern Library.

They can also be requested by calling Isobel Rich on 01684 862467.

The deadline for nominations is Sunday, October 29.
