BIG-HEARTED slimmers laced up their running shoes and chased down £200 from sponsors for their own Race for Life event.
Members of the group killed two birds with one stone by taking part in the run held in aid of Cancer Research at Victoria Park Playing Field as all those who participated had lost between half a stone and six and a half stone.
The day was well attended and the group were cheered on by family and friends as well as other people from the community, some of whom also took part themselves.

“We saw participants young and old enter, with a broad range of different abilities and fitness levels.
“We are so pleased with how much we raised for Cancer Research UK and I think the event showed people just how motivating being part of a group like ours can be.”
Jacky, who took part in the event in memory of her sister, said it was a cause which was very close to her heart.
“It was really important to me to cross that finish line.
