SmartWater kits to protect the valuables of Hallow residents

RESIDENTS in the Malvern village of Hallow are being supported to protect their valuables with the rollout of SmartWater kits.

Malvern Hills District Council teamed up with West Mercia Police to offer the free kits which can mark property with a unique easily identifiable code applied via a water-based liquid.

A sign-up event will take place at Hallow Village Hall from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, October 23.

Items marked with SmartWater can be traced back to the owner, making them easier to be returned if stolen.

First launched in 2022, the scheme has already successfully distributed over 1,600 SmartWater property marking kits to residents of Kempsey and its hamlets.

Kempsey has obtained SmartWater village status, which is achieved when 80 per cent of homes within an area have signed up to receive SmartWater kits to protect their valuables.

The scheme has been part funded by MHDC and the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), John Campion.

Councillor Tom Wells, Leader of Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We are really pleased to be able to rollout the SmartWater scheme to Hallow residents.

“It is important that we continue to work together with partnership agencies to help support crime prevention initiatives in our communities.”
