CARAVAN owners have been put on alert following a spate of thefts in South Worcestershire in recent weeks including Malvern.

Thieves targeted Riverside Caravan Park in Little Clevelode sometime between 5pm Wednesday, January 15 and 4pm Thursday, January 16 stealing two caravans.

The first was an Elddis Advante 624 (2010 model) caravan with a spare wheel, hitch lock and battery.

They also took cooking and cleaning items worth £550, an awning and caravan cover worth £482, Calor gas cylinders worth £85 and kitchen and dining equipment as well as bedding worth £227.

The second caravan taken was a 21ft long white Sprite Esprite valued at nearly £10,000. It also included a Hitachi TV worth £150, cooking and dining equipment worth £100. The thieves also did £60 worth of damage to the hitch lock and wheel lock.

Also in January caravans were targeted in Great Comberton and Eckington, both near Pershore, while earlier this month thieves have struck in Inkberrow and a storage facility in Eckington.

Insp Janet Heritage said: “We are appealing to anyone with information about any of the thefts, attempted theft or damage to any of these caravans to contact us.

“We also urge owners do everything they can to keep their property secure.

“We recommend they fit wheel locks, hitch locks, tracking devises and any other available security equipment to their caravans to deter thieves and help us track them down.

“One of the stolen caravans was successfully traced because it was fitted with a tracking device.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
