MALVERN Male Voice Choir (MMVC) and The Choirs of Holy Trinity Church are presenting a special free event in two weeks’ time.
‘Find Your Voice’, a singing workshop for men and women of all ages, will be held at the church in Link Top on Saturday, March 4 from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
The event will be lead by Douglas Watts, a voice practitioner, singer and conductor from Bristol.
Douglas originally hails from Ledbury and has been a MMVC member for a few years.
He studied music at Hereford Sixth Form College and Bristol University, having been a student of Charles Pavey, the musical director of MMVC and Holy Trinity Choirs respectively.
Douglas is a huge believer in the benefits of singing for well-being and encourages vocal techniques to be used in everyday life, rooted in confidence, stability and vocal health.
He also teaches a huge variety of types of music, including three and four part harmony pieces, ranging from 1920s swing to modern rock and pop.
Charles said: “It is a real privilege to have Douglas returning to Malvern to lead an imaginative event like this.
“He has tremendous energy, enthusiasm and patience; his engaging approach, in which everything is done by ear, helps those who probably don’t read music to enjoy their singing and the harmonies that come out of it.”
Admission to the event is free and includes refreshments.
