Storm Ciara prompts amber weather warning for high winds and heavy rain across the West Midlands

AN AMBER warning has been issued for heavy rain and high winds in Malvern, Upton and the rest of the West Midlands tomorrow as Storm Ciara arrives in the UK.

The winds of up to 60mph and torrential rain is predicted to start around 5am and last for up to 12 hours.

The Met Office is warning there could be damage to buildings and property from the gusts and flash flooding and a chance of power cuts.

Road and rail tavel could also be disrupted by the wind and rain.




Roads and railway lines could be flooded and overhead powerlines used by electric trains and trams ould be brought down.

Speed restrictions are being placed on trains by Network Rail which will mean there could be delays and timetable alterations.


Anyone travelling tomorrow should check before they set off for delays, disruption and changes.

An ‘Amber’ weather warning is the second highest behind red which shows the severity of the predicted storm.
