Summer fun as care homes open their doors to Malvern residents

Malvern Editorial 20th Jun, 2017   0

CARE homes in Malvern opened their doors to the community last Saturday for an afternoon of summer fun.

Staff, volunteers and residents at Davenham, Bradbury Court and Perrins House care homes welcomed in town residents as part of the UK-wide Care Home Open Day.

Visitors were able to explore the care home’s gardens and exotic trees. They also enjoyed a spot of afternoon tea in a vintage tea room and listened to live music from a local ukulele group and the popular Poppy Sisters singers.

Firefighters from Malvern Fire Station joined in the fun and brought their fire engine.

There was also a bouncy castle, pony rides, Morgan sports cars and a silent auction.

Friends of the Elderly, which runs the three care homes, hosted the afternoon of fun as part of their effort to encourage friendships across the generations in Malvern.

James Wadlow, General Manager of Davenham, Bradbury Court and Perrins House care homes said: “Our open day was a great success with a great turnout, which residents, my colleagues and I all thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you to everyone who came and joined us.”
