TALENTED dancers at a Malvern ballet school are celebrating a summer of unprecedented success.
From winning lead roles in professional theatre productions to places at prestigious drama and ballet schools, Ballet Malvern Centre of Dance students are flying high.
All 20 of Ballet Malvern’s dancers who auditioned for Malvern Theatre’s Peter Pan starring TV’s Billy Elliot, Eliott Hanna, and Phantom of the Opera’s Janet Cowley were given parts.
In the professional production, which runs this August, Chanel Fulton will dance the role of Tinkerbell and Victoria Sloan-Kirton and Caitlin Fisher will share the part of Tiger Lily.
The other 17 students who auditioned will dance parts from the lost boys to fairies, Indians and pirates.
Victoria, 18, is to start at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama this autumn after spending the summer at RADA and Guildford School of Acting.
Last month, she plays Fraulein Cos in Hereford College of Arts’ production of Cabaret.
And ten-year-old student Jakob Hughes has been accepted into Elmhurst Ballet School in Edgbaston, Birmingham, and the Royal Ballet School as a Mid Associate.
Underpinning Ballet Malvern’s unprecedented success were excellent grades for all students in their Grade Four, Five and Six exams.
“They received Honours and Highly Commended grades in abundance,” said principal Rebecca Sloan-Kirton.
“I’m so proud of our amazingly talented students.
“For everyone who auditioned to get into a professional theatre production and some to get main parts is incredible, and we’re absolutely thrilled for Victoria and Jakob who have done so fantastically well to move on to the next stage of their careers.
“We’re so excited to see what the future holds for them.”
Ballet Malvern, in Cowleigh Road, runs weekday and weekend classes for children aged three upwards from musical theatre to classical ballet and rhythmic gymnastics to jazz and tap.
There are adult ballet and contemporary classes, too.
