Sweet taste of success

A FORMER Mars Confectionery developer from Malvern is fulfilling his dream of having his own handmade chocolate business.

Brian Lane, along with his wife Lizzie, has set up Alchemy Artisan Chocolatiers after he suffered a bad fall a few years ago which led to him making chocolates to keep himself busy as he was unable to work.

Demand then snowballed, leading to the couple deciding to set up the business and searching for premises, finding a small workshop which they then fitted out with work benches for making and packing the chocolates and cold storage units.

The pair will be at the Great Malvern Shopping Market on Saturday (November 30) to show off their handmade chocolates.

Mr Lane said: “My inspiration comes from chef Heston Blumenthal. I chose the name Alchemy because Heston is often described as a culinary alchemist.

“I love the brilliant way he uses flavours, often with unusual combinations.”
