A TEACHER and pupil at The Chase have been attacked by another student wielding a bladed weapon.

The incident happened about 8.45am this morning (Monday) at the Geraldine Road school.

Police had launched a search for the suspect – a 13-year-old boy but later announced (after 5pm) he had been found safe on a train heading towards Hereford.

This evening police announced they had arrested a teenager on suspicion of the incident and remains in custody at Worcester Police Station.

The victims, a male teacher and a girl also aged 13, both suffered minor injuries.

A brief statement was published on The Chase School website to reassure parents.

It says: “There has been an incident at the school, which has now been dealt with.

“Everyone is safe, and there is no cause for concern. Parents should not be alarmed by the presence of police at the site.

“This is a precaution and the situation is fully under control.”

A spokesperson for Worcestershire County Council added: “We are aware of an incident that has taken place at The Chase School in Malvern. We are working with both the school and West Mercia Police to provide assistance where and when necessary.”

All after-school activities have been cancelled for the day (Monday).
