TENBURY Community Pool could be receiving a grant of up to £115,000 to cover the venue’s rising energy costs, writes Zara Parkes.

The proposal will be put forward to the Executive Committee at Malvern Hills District Council on Tuesday, January 24, along with suggestions for additional capital works.

This will include Solar PV, double glazing and replacement boilers.

The improvements are estimated to deliver energy savings of over 40,000KW per year and a financial saving of £25,000.

The leisure pool, owned by Tenbury Community Pool Ltd, has no direct source of regular income and is reliant on an annual council grant and fund-raising schemes.

Coun Tom Wells, Malvern Hills District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said: “This grant would not only help ease the pressures of rising energy costs, but also help to ensure the facility is is fit for purpose and financially viable for years to come.”

Adrian Taylor, Chairman of Tenburuy Community Pool, added: “With the support of local immunity and a grant from MHDC, the residents of Tenbury and its wider community will benefit physically, mentally, and socially in a modern, fully inclusive ad energy efficient leisure activity.”
