Tenbury pool making a splash after community-led revamp

TENBURY’S new-look gym and swimming pool are making a splash after being revamped following a local fund-raising campaign.

The gym and changing areas have undergone extensive rebuilding with extra space and improved facilities added.

Local helped raise the funds for the improvements alongside money from housing developers and local grants.

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin, who was recently given a tour of the building, said: “Tenbury Community Pool project has always been well supported by local people and I’m hugely impressed by the dedication and hard work of the volunteers who have made this project possible.

“The new facilities look amazing and Tenbury people are so lucky to have a fabulous pool and shiny new gym on their doorstep.”

She added she was pleased clubs and schools were starting to return to use the spaces in a Covid-safe way and she hoped more people would want to exercise when the nights drew in.

Ms Baldwin wrote to Sport England earlier in the year to ask the national body to help out as it recovered from flood damage and developed a plan to re-open the new-look gym in a Covid-safe way.

“I’m pleased to have played a small role in helping the facility to weather this, the most difficult of years,” added Ms Baldwin.
