The Chase School teacher relishing cyber security role

Malvern Editorial 31st Mar, 2017   0

A COMPUTING teacher from The Chase School in Malvern has been asked to represent the education sector in a cyber security multi-agency task force being launched within the West Mercia Police region.

Mr John Palmer will join the group which aims to bring together cyber influencers and stakeholders in the county to look at any schemes which could be beneficial to the region.

The task force also hopes to raise awareness of cyber crime as well as solutions and prevention measures.

West Mercia Police was keen to have a school representative on their panel as ensuring students receive relevant cyber security education is important.

Mr Palmer, faculty leader for computing and business at The Chase, said: “It is really exciting to be invited to be involved in this initiative.

“Cyber Education is a vital part of the Computing curriculum for our students and we want to equip them with a high level of awareness of current issues.

“At The Chase we have been working for quite a while now in partnership with local businesses and organisations to ensure that our students are confident, Cyber aware and ready to face the future: however complex that might be.

“In my role as Computing Specialist teaching lead for Worcestershire, I hope to represent the interests and concerns of the Education sector and also share key information back into schools to benefit students across the county.”
