A MALVERN hotel is celebrating after its restaurant won a top county award.

The Cotford scooped up the Worcestershire Restaurant of the Year accolade at the Visit Worcestershire’s Tourism Awards for Excellence held at Malvern Theatres.

Success for Graham Road hotel now means they will represent the county at the national finals next year.

It was also awarded two AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence for an eighth consecutive year.

Chris Morgan, owner of the Cotford Hotel with his wife Barbara, said: “We are so proud to be in this position on our tenth anniversary of having arrived in Malvern from Warwick.

“A lot of hard work involved in this industry and some people don’t get the recognition they deserve.

“We feel fortunate to have been noticed and we look forward to represent the county at the national finals next year.”

Next year the Cotford Hotel is unable to enter the Visit Worcestershire Awards as it was requested to take a step back to encourage other restaurants in the county to come forward for the accolade.

Mr Morgan added: “There was a bit of disappointment not to be able to enter again but a sense of pride too.

“Our strength shows we can stand aside and let others get involved.

“I am a huge believer in supporting others and not letting one lead the way every single year.

“There are great chefs in Malvern and I cannot see any reason why this town cannot become an eating hub.”
