A MALVERN bakery rose above the rest of the competition to scoop a prestigious regional award.

Le Delice, on Albert Park Road, was voted the Most Loved Bakery in the West Midlands as part of this year’s Craft Bakers’ Week.

The week ran from Monday (September 28) to Saturday (October 3) and saw bakeries across the country encourage customers to vote for them to claim the prize.

Jean Michel, owner of the bakery, said: “It feels fantastic to be voted as the Most Loved Bakery in the West Midlands.

“Bakeries are an important part of any community and it is great to see that we are so loved by our customers.

“We would like to thank all those who voted for us for their continued support, both towards us and the art of craft baking.”

Craft Bakers’ Week also helped to support the work of Make A Wish UK with all participating stores raising money for the cause.

Hannah Marriage, chair of Craft Bakers’ Week 2015, added: “Bakeries have been a feature on our high street for generations and have become an incredibly important part of communities all over the country.

“Some bakeries are more than 100 years old and have passed recipes down through the generations, including many delicious regional specialties.

“Craft Bakers’ Week is a great opportunity to celebrate the local craft bakery.”
