Three men wanted following attempted robbery at Malvern bank

POLICE are searching for three men who are on the run after attempting to rob a Malvern bank.

An appeal has been launched for help tracing the men who entered the Santander Building Society on Worcester Road this morning (Friday), between 1.15am and 1.50am.

Two security staff had entered the building when three unknown men gained access and threatened them verbally, while trying to gain entry to a cash machine.

The men, who were all wearing balaclavas, left empty handed and got into a waiting silver 4×4 vehicle, which is believed to be a Range Rover.




The vehicle left in the direction of Ledbury along the A449.

No one was injured during the incident, but the building was damaged and officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage.


One of the offenders is described as 6ft, medium build and was wearing a green jacket or green fleece and dark bottoms.

The second offender is described as about 5ft 8ins, with a slim build and was wearing black clothing.

And the third offender was described as about 5ft 10ins and was also wearing dark clothing.

The store has been closed today with a sign at the entrance stating: “We regret due to an incident this branch has been temporarily closed.”

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or saw a vehicle matching the above description in the area at the time of the offense, is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident number 18s of January, 8 2016.

A Santander spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that there was an incident at the Santander branch on Worcester Road in Malvern early this morning. We are assisting the police with their investigation.

“The branch is currently closed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. There were no reported losses or injuries to staff or customers.”
