PARENTS whose children are due to start school next September can now apply to the local authority, detailing their preferred choices, writes Eve Watson.
This applies to all youngsters, whether they are starting first or primary school for the first time or transitioning to middle school, high school or secondary school (depending on if it is a two or three-tier system).
For children applying for a place at high school for September 2020, the deadline is October 31, 2019.
For primary, first, infant, junior and middle Schools, parents have until January 15 in 2020.
Cabinet member with Responsibility for Education and Skills at Worcestershire County Council, Coun Marcus Hart said: “Starting school or moving to middle or high school is a big step in your educational journey.
“We are pleased that with admission for September 2019 every child that applied had a place offered to them with 91 per cent getting their first preference.
“However it is especially important that the deadlines for application are met to avoid missing out on a place.”
There is a secure online system where parents can create an account and submit an application.
For Worcestershire schools visit worcestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions to find out more and apply online.
Parents who do not have access to the Internet can get online at any Worcestershire library or if additional assistance is needed they can call the county council’s School Admissions service on 01905 822700.
