Tory councillor Hannah Campbell takes Ice Bucket Challenge, with some opposition help

Malvern Editorial 12th Sep, 2014 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016

A TORY district councillor has taken part in the Ice Bucket Challenge after having freezing water tipped on her by her mother – an opposition councillor.

Hannah Campbell who represents the Priory ward for the Conservatives, was the latest person to take on the charity craze after been nominated by Mayor Julian Roskams.

Her mother Jill Campbell, who switched to the council’s Democratic group from the Tories earlier this year, was on hand to do the honours.

Before getting drenched Hannah announced she would ‘keep it in the council’ with a cheeky nomination for Coun Tom Wells, leader of the Liberal Democrat group, as well as her Tory colleague Coun Rebecca Massey.

Mayor Roskams, who is also leader of the council’s Democratic group, also selected council leaders David Hughes and Paul Swinburn to step up to the task but an MHDC spokeswoman confirmed neither would be doing the challenge.

The Ice Bucket Challenge which has swept the globe involving a whole host of celebrities, was launched to raise money to fight Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a disease which affects the nervous system, but many taking part have chosen to donate to different charities
