Town centre shops targeted by thieves

Malvern Editorial 5th Feb, 2014 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

TWO shops in Malvern town centre have been targeted by burglars in the space of three days.

The first incident happened between 5.30pm on Monday, January 27, and 9.25am the following day (Tuesday) when offenders broke into Malvern Discount Cards on Church Walk and stole a large quantity of greetings cards, gifts and £366 in cash.

Among the items taken were bronze figures, claret jugs, silver tag bears and handbags.

PC Frances Thorpe said: “These items would have been quite bulky to remove from the shop and we are very keen to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour around the shops in Church Walk or any of the nearby car parks.

“Also, anyone who has been offered any items matching those stolen is asked to contact us straight away.”

The second incident occurred between 5.10pm on Wednesday, January 29, and 10am the following day (Thursday) when someone attempted to gain entry into Lace, a small independent underwear shop.

Damage marks consistent with those from a crow bar were found on the door but no one got into the shop.

Anyone with any information should call PC Thorpe on 101 and quote incident number 131-S-280114 for Malvern Discount Cards or 122-S-300114 for Lace, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
